In four intensive days at the Arizona state capitol, you'll learn about the challenges facing southwestern political leaders, meet the people who can affect change, and ask the pressing political questions of the day. You will have the opportunity to improve your leadership skills and will learn from your peers about what issues are most important to today’s youth.
Students will hear from and have the opportunity to questions elected officials, state policy staff, and community leaders. They will also participate in nightly debates on current policy issues and an in-depth discussion of the presidential campaigns and prominent election issues. Symposium is a chance to bring politics and government to life and for students to examine their own political beliefs. Arizona Symposium topics will include: * Immigration policy and its impact on Arizona politics * Is Arizona becoming a "purple" state? * Urban sprawl and the impact on state resources * Fiscal Demands: How do we solve the budget deficit?
