Convention Details
Registration
"How Do We Sign Up to Attend a Convention?
Students from one school may form a delegation with school approval and register together, along with teacher chaperones. Schools and students interested in attending a Junior State convention must obtain a convention registration packet by downloading from this site or by contacting the Junior State office. The packet includes information on how to register, as well as student permission slips, housing forms and other important details on the convention.
Registration Fees
What is the cost for a convention?
Registration fees are from $80 - $130 per student and cover overnight hotel accommodations, admission to all convention activities, educational materials, exciting seminars, and recreational activities including a dance. Transportation and meals are not included in the registration fee. The Junior State offers complimentary registration for teachers accompanying a delegation (one free teacher registration for every 19 students.)
Teacher/Advisors and the Junior Statesmen Foundation
How are students supervised at conventions?
Teacher/Advisors lend guidance to students and are essential to the educational aspect of the organization. They are also responsible for supervision and enforcement of school rules. At least one teacher/advisor must accompany each school delegation to the convention. Junior Statesmen Foundation staff members oversee student conduct and all student activites.
Convention Rules
What rules govern student conduct at conventions?
All rules for school field trips apply at Junior State conventions. A complete list of convention rules can be found on the Junior State permission slip that all student delegates and their parents must read and sign.
