JSA Staff Participates in National Day of Service on MLK Day
JSF staff members in the Washington D.C. office spent Monday morning volunteering at a local library in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and the National Day of Service.   Staff members worked in the Special Collections office of the Martin Luther King Jr. DC Public Library restoring antique children’s books.

Books were vacuumed, dusted, labeled, and sorted.  The book collection totals 20,000 volumes and includes both picture and chapter books with illustrations.  Some books were first editions, and Matthew Randazzo, JSF’s Chief Growth and Strategy Officer, found one book dating back to 1826.

JSA Chapter in Bloomfield, NJ Hosts Veterans Day Celebration; Visits Washington DC

By: Genevieve IlgArlington

On November 10th, Bloomfield High's chapter of the Junior State of America (JSA) hosted a Veterans Appreciation Dinner. Close to $2,000 was raised during the event. About 45 veterans attended, as well as BHS' administration, local politicians, and other holders of office. VFW Post 711's Commander John Mooney helped with the arrangements, and noted that this was the first event of its kind in Essex County, NJ. On Veterans Day, Junior State marched in a local parade and took part in a ceremony.  The chapter also received attention from the local press as a result of the event.
