The Theme: Beyond the Horizon: Assessing American Influence

Seventy-five years ago a group of boys were asked by their teacher,Prof Rogers, “How can we save American democracy?” This group of young boys from the Montezuma Mountain School became the first Junior Statesmen. American society today is faced with a number of social, political, environmental, financial, and global problems. Fall State gathered the Southeast’s best and brightest, and gave them the opportunity to resolve these issues. Attendees went beyond U.S. shores, gaining a global perspective of the issues on the American agenda.

Beyond the Horizon: Assessing American Influence was aboutdetermining America’s goals for the future, for our country, and for the world. That future is our future. Junior Statesmen are the world’s future governors, senators, presidents, diplomats, military leaders, and business tycoons. As members of the Junior State of America, it is our responsibility to make that future the best it can possibly be. Not just as young men and women, but as America’s future leaders.
