Benedictine Academy Chapter Spotlight
Wednesday, 26 December 2007
Many students at Benedictine Academy were always excited about their Current Events class or talking about government and politics, but until this year they never had one place to unite themselves. With the formation of the new JSA Chapter at Benedictine Academy, these students can come together to form a close knit family. This JSA Chapter is still in its first year but has been showing steady signs of progress and strength. Over eight percent of Benedictine Academy is a tax-paid member of the school's JSA chapter.  Over 25% of the chapter attended Fall State, and one of them even brought back a Best Speaker Award! The chapter leadership expects that many more people will attend Winter Congress in February.

Though Benedictine Academy's JSA Chapter is only in its beginning stages it is no doubt becoming a phenomenal chapter. It is falling into the routine of weekly meetings, and with a number of students now informed on proper debating techniques, more and more students are becoming politically involved and aware.

Benedictine Academy's JSAers are truly putting democracy to work. Many of these students are involved in student council and hold leadership positions in other clubs. These students are class presidents, club presidents, editors, girls scouts, class representatives, and, most importantly, voters.

A large part of this JSA Chapter's success has been the continuous support of the school's faculty and staff, but more particularly Benedictine Academy's Chapter's Teacher/Advisor, Ms. Murphy. Through her steadfast support this JSA chapter is growing stronger every day.
