Dublin Scioto H.S Chapter of the Week
Monday, 14 April 2008

Starting a chapter is no easy feat; it takes time, dedication, and patience especially when working with a complex school board.  This year, Liz Litteral, a sophomore at Dublin Scioto High School, attended the Ohio River Valley’s Symposium on Leadership and Politics.  Liz immediately went home and set to work on forming a JSA chapter at Dublin!  Her high school is in Columbus, Ohio where chapters are sparse and the area is unfamiliar with JSA.  Dublin, having well over 1,000 students, has a complicated administrative board overseeing its activities; however, this did not stop Liz and her new JSA recruits. They worked tediously all year and just a month or so ago JSA became an approved organization at not only their school but for their entire district.  This simply means that know Liz and her chapter can bring students from nearby schools to show them the magic of JSA!  Dublin, before and after official chapter status, has been a fixture at virtually all our mini conventions and have yet to miss a major convention.  They, along with Bexley high school another Columbus school started after Robert Moore attended Symposium, have created the foundation for Columbus expansion.  Dublin is in the process of not just hosting the Ohio River Valley State’s end of the year Leadership Convention, but has already made a plan for reaching out to local schools.  Liz and Robert, eagerly anticipate expanding the JSA throughout Central Ohio.  Liz hopes to that next year will prove to be a year of growth for the Columbus area and looks forward to applying for Cabinet.  Dublin, under Liz Litteral has become a strong chapter that will endure the test of time.
