APPLICATION FOR MONTEZUMA TEACHER FELLOWS PROGRAM

Each summer, several JSA Teacher/Advisors from around the nation are selected to participate in a very special program at the birthplace of JSA in California. The Montezuma Teacher Fellows Program brings together both veteran and new Teacher/Advisors to learn about the histroy and misssion of JSA as well as share best practices and train to be a resources for other T/As. Junior State's National Leadership Summit meets at Presentation Center in the mountains above Los Gatos, California – site of the birthplace of JSA, The Montezuma Mountain School for Boys. The 21st Annual Montezuma Leadership Summit will be held August 7-10, 2008. The Montezuma Summit will be attended by sixty-five young JSA student leaders, JSA Teacher/Advisors, and members of Montezuma Foundation (alumni of the school that gave birth to JSA). Conference fees, transportation, housing and meal expenses for teachers attending will be paid for by The Montezuma Foundation. At the conference, teachers and JSA leaders come together to learn about JSA’s traditions and ideals and to advance JSA's educational mission. Unlike other JSA events, Teacher/Advisors will be full participants in all discussions at JSA's only nationwide leadership event. Additionally, teachers attending the conference work together to produce curriculum for a JSA Teacher/Advisor Training Seminar to be held at each of JSA’s Fall State Conventions. Funded by a generous grant from the Montezuma Foundation, the T/A Training Initiative’s goal is to bolster JSA chapters by ensuring that every T/A has a solid understanding of the organization as well as a working knowledge of how their role as a T/A can strengthen their chapter and further the mission of JSA. |
