Spitz is a public finance lawyer with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP in San Francisco.

He works with state and local government officials in the financing of infrastructure projects, water, wastewater treatment and power facilities, low income housing developments and first-time homebuyer programs.

Participation in JSA was Spitz' first opportunity to experience and learn about government below the federal level.

Spitz says, "I also learned, through friendships, what a large and diverse state California is (we were just the California Junior State then) and what a variety of different, yet strangely common, challenges high school students from different places and circumstances face.
