Pete Wilson
The 36th governor of the state of California (1991-1999), Pete Wilson got his start in politics as an advance man in the 1960 president campaign, working for Richard Nixon. Later, Wilson was a state assemblyman for five years, mayor of San Diego for 11 years and U.S. senator for eight years.

Born in Illinois in 1933, Wilson attended Yale University, served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received his law degree from the University of California. Today, Wilson is a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, sits on the boards of a number of companies, serves on two federal advisory committees and is a consultant with the national law firm Bingham McCutchen LLP in Los Angeles.
