A Letter From the Governor

My fellow Junior Statesmen,

Hello, and welcome to the Northeast Junior State website!  The JSA is the largest student-run organization in the United States of America, and focuses on promoting statesmanship and engaging students in the democratic process through political debate and mock government.  Whether you are a veteran JSAer, new member, or simply a curious high school student, I hope that you will use this website to better acclimate yourself with the organization and learn about upcoming events.  To first time members and interested students, if you are interested in politics, public speaking, and civic activism, the Junior State is perfect for you; so be sure to browse this website’s pages to learn more about how you can get involved in the organization.

Since the 2009-2010 scholastic—and JSA—year came to an end, a lot has happened in our country: Elena Kagan’s appointment to the Supreme Court was confirmed, and General McChrystal was relieved from his post in Afghanistan.  With the 2010-2010 year upon us, I’m excited to examine these events, along with other issues facing the United States today.  This website will soon be updated with information for all of the upcoming events of the year, so be sure to check back soon!  You can also find convention information by joining the Northeast JSA Updates group on facebook here.

I look forward to hearing from you all and seeing you throughout the course of next year, so please contact me with any questions you may have pertaining to JSA or anything else!

Lia Cromwell
