Fall State: Weeks Away
Sunday, 28 October 2007

There is a likely possibility that everyone is brewing with excitement for Florida Territory’s Fall State 2007. For the Chapters’ seniors, it is their last year to debate fruitfully and triumphantly prevail in winning as many best speaker gavels as possible. For newcomers, it’s a time of giddy expectations and excitement beyond consent. As for the ones somewhere in the middle, what can I say, but that the expectations are just as solid as they’ve ever been! Fall State marks the beginning of an anticipated great year. Chapters await to mingle with one another, meet old friends, and embrace fully in their love for politics.

Now, it must be warned, that there will be lots of blood chilled debates, opinionated speeches, and great challenges going on inside the walls of the grand Marriot Hotel. But shrink not from this news, for it only adds to the greatness of what a Florida convention is. During the three weeks waiting period of Fall State, what can one do to control the excitement brewing inside? May I suggest a plan? Of course your plan should be to plan! One can never spend enough time planning. It is always useful to start research for an argument weeks in advance and practice you stance on that issue in front of the mirror (as a friend once told me).

The mirror shall not mock you! Practice keeping a strong voice, and a strong built. After this task is resolved, plan on the additional works that are needed to be completed that weekend (that big algebra quiz that needs some studying time, or maybe a Spanish packet that needs a look over.) But worry not, because after this year’s Fall State weekend, there is a No School day in that following Monday! But don’t let that stop you, there is more that can and must be planned. For example, getting each other’s phone numbers within a chapter is a great way to keep things from getting too hectic. It definitely had its benefits in my chapter in previous years. Lastly, I shall keep you posted on additional planning tips that are a must!
