Tuition Scholarships are Available for JSA Summer Programs

If you are a qualified student who is facing a barrier to attending a JSA Summer Program, we can help you with tuition costs.

Each year JSA awards more than $750,000 in scholarship funding for our summer school programs. Awards are based on financial need, academic excellence, demonstrated leadership abilities, and evidence that an applicant is highly motivated to attend the program. Scholarship awards range from partial scholarships to full tuition scholarships based on grant eligibility.

If applying for a scholarship, please be sure to submit your scholarship form with your application to expedite its processing. You can upload your scholarship form by logging in to your MyJSA account and clicking the appropriate link in the Next Steps tab. By filling out just one application, students are automatically evaluated for all of the special funds available. Scholarships are available for the JSA Summer School at Princeton, at Stanford, and at Georgetown.

The AMA Scholarship:

The Junior State of America Foundation administers a Summer School scholarship fund called the Alumni Merit Award (AMA) to assist students for whom the program tuition may be a barrier to participation. Students who reside and attend a middle or high school in the domestic U.S. and accepted to the Georgetown, Princeton, and Stanford programs may be eligible for partial tuition scholarships. These funds are provided by the Foundation with support from summer school alumni, businesses, government institutions and philanthropic foundations.

The Scholarship Committee awards partial scholarships using the following criteria: financial need, academic excellence, participation in JSA school-year program, demonstrated leadership ability, and evidence that an applicant is highly motivated to attend the program. JSA scholarship decisions are made January through May.

Eligibility:

Students who would like to be considered for a Junior State of America Foundation AMA Scholarship must meet the eligibility criteria (listed below) in order to have their scholarship application reviewed:

  1. Be enrolled in a middle school or high school located in the domestic U.S.
  2. Create a Classy fundraising page and be actively fundraising
  3. Must register and attend a Fundraising Academy Webinar (Held every Tuesday & Wednesday evening)
  4. Complete and submit the AMA Scholarship Application in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please note: Students from the freely associated U.S. states and territories are only eligible for the US Department of Interior Scholarship. Information for these students can be found at summer.jsa.org/tfas-guide.
